I came to Phoenix 14 years ago and became a Phoenix Police Officer. I spent eight years on patrol working in Central City Precinct in the heart of downtown. I then became a recruiter for the department in 2004 and travelled all across the United States representing my agency. After recruiting, I handled a $650,000 promotions budget as the advertising coordinator for the Phoenix PD.
Currently, I am the coordinator for about 200 volunteers who serve the Phoenix Police in the Citizens Offering Police Support (COPS) program. In 2009, COPS volunteers donated almost 30,000 hours saving the department close to $625,000. My job as COPS coordinator is to maintain accountability assessments while managing the volunteers, to promote the COPS program internally and externally, and create development in order to fund recognition and retention of active volunteers. After almost a decade and a half with this agency, I have renewed passion for my work and a great sense of fulfillment. I’ve often told peers, I could see myself retiring in this position.
My passions outside of work begin with my motorcycle and competing in sports. Some of my favorite memories include the many travels throughout Arizona and the United States with my wife, Denise, and my son Angel. I look forward to the potential of the relationships within Rotary and the possibility of contributing alongside a service club.
