Mariel has been a teacher for six years. She has taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. She has taught in Higley and Chandler, Arizona. As a teacher she teaches all core subjects. Mariel has had the privilege to open two new schools which is exciting and challenging setting up new communities. As a teacher, Mariel has also been a cheerleading coach, the student council advisor, and takes part in leadership roles within her school. Mariel will receive her Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Northern Arizona University in mid December.
Mariel Olson is a native to Arizona. Though the desert is home, she loves to travel and has traveled to many European counties, Mexico, and Canada. Mariel also did her student teaching in a small town on the southern coast of England. Outside of work, Mariel enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She loves to hike when the weather is cool enough, she enjoys swimming, reading, and cooking. Mariel feels very lucky to live so close to her two sisters and their children.
Mariel is very excited and grateful to take part in the GSE program. She knows how important it is to assimilate into other counties and the eye opening experience it can be. Mariel is excited to take part in Rotary service activities in Australia and hopes when she returns to continue to be part of Rotary.
